California 州保険庁は、先週、連日の長い議論の末、Golden Eagle 社の Liberty Mutual 社への売却を決めた。
契約の合意内容は次のとおり。
１．Maybee氏（前Golden Eagle社 Owner）はGolden Eagleに対するすべての権利を放棄。
２．Maybee氏は今後California州で保険業務に就かない。
３．Maybee氏は、Golden Eagle がすべてClaimを払い終わった後に残る金額のみを受け取る。
一旦 Golden Eagle の買収に成功したと報じられたAIG は、今回の「どんでん返し」に反発し、6月6日、 California に控訴の通知を届け出た。

AIG FILES APPEAL OF LIBERTY'S GOLDEN EAGLE DEAL
It is the first step in American International Group's challenge of Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush's self proclaimed Court Victory and it is an important one.
AIG has filed a notice of appeal in the California Court of Appeal of Superior Court Judge William Cahill's award of Golden Eagle's business to Liberty Mutual Insurance Group. Quackenbush, who entered into a 'signed definitive agreement' with AIG went backwards on the deal and endorsed Liberty at the last minute. It was then that Golden Eagle was awarded to Liberty.
The situation remains fluid and it is anyone's guess at this time as to which carrier will end of with Golden Eagle and whether or not overturning the Liberty deal will re-create the need for an (insurance code section) '1012' hearing as to whether the takeover was even legal.

California州の発表には、"Major victory for California consumers" 等の表現が有り、California 保険庁がことさら成果を宣伝している（これも保険が政治に利用されている良い例である）。
普通ならこれでようやく落着となるところだが、ＡＩＧは大いに悔しがっているようだ。ＡＩＧは控訴する動きを見せている。相手はＣＡ州保険長官のQuackenbush氏、Maybee氏、Liberty Mutual の３者と言われている。まだまだ目を離せない。
