Travelers Property Casualty Launches On-Line Claim Reporting Service

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 1999--Customers of Travelers
Property Casualty (NYSE: TAP) now have a new way to submit their claims to the
company. Along with a host of other enhancements, the Travelers Web site
(http://www.travelers.com) now offers an on-line claim reporting service for
customers with homeowners or personal auto insurance policies.

"Travelers is committed to providing our customers with convenient ways to
reach us, and this new on-line claim reporting service helps us do just that,"
said David Gibbs, president and chief executive officer of Claim Services.
"The service provides us with yet another way to fulfill our promise to our
agents and customers to pay claims quickly and fairly."

To submit a claim online, a customer goes to the Travelers homepage and makes
a selection under the "File A Claim" icon. Then, the customer is directed to
input in the necessary information, and with a click of the mouse, submits the
claim automatically to a local claim service center. A Travelers claim
representative reviews the claim and calls back the customer to complete the
process.

The claim reporting feature is one of several major improvements to the site,
including a newly designed homepage that is easier to navigate, real-time
quotes for boat insurance, and a Small Business Center - an on-line guide to
small business insurance that provides helpful information, much of which
can't be found anywhere else on the Web.

The enhancements to the Travelers Web site are backed by a solid foundation of
information and services for insurance customers. Customers with personal auto
and homeowners policies can surf the site to locate an agent, learn about
their policies, get a quote, calculate the replacement cost of their home, and
download money-saving and safety tips. Business customers can locate an agent
and obtain valuable information about commercial insurance and how to report a
claim. Travelers also employs its Web site technology to support its
independent agency network with information and services.

保険のクレーム処理のようなものでは、とりあえずの受付は重要だが、その後の人間対人間の処理が重要であり、契約者からの片方向での処理では所詮十分ではないということ。
