The Association of Mr. Yamano's Friends - brief presentation

Seijiro Yamano is a sixty-four-year-old man who has been incarcerated for nearly twenty years in the Detention Center of Osaka, Japan. He was sentenced to death in 1985 for murder and burglary, but he submitted an appeal for retrial in 2001 because he thought that the death sentence he received was erroneous.

Mr. Yamano has being claiming that the judgement of the court had been based on the sole weight of the deposition reports that were prepared by the police under their expedience and ignoring several important facts.

The Association of Mr. Yamano's Friends was created in 1989 to support his struggle for survival and restoring the justice.

The missions of our association are as following:

Mr. Yamano has a limitation in communicating with people other than his family members and his lawyer, and such inhuman treatment is being criticized by the human right defenders.

Our association is collaborating with Japanese and international NGOs committing in the defense of human rights of prisoners and death raw inmates.
